Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) is a nickel-chromium alloy used for applications that need high temperature resistance and corrosion. This nickel alloy was developed for service temperatures from cryogenic to elevated temperatures in the range of 2000° F.

They have excellent mechanical properties, is non-magnetic and presents the desirable mix of high strength and good weldability under an array of temperatures.

The prime nickel content in Inconel 600 enables it to retain considerable resistance under reducing conditions, can make it resistant to corrosion by a number of organic and inorganic compounds, gives it excellent capacity chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking plus offers excellent resistance to alkaline solutions.

Chemical Composition, %

The chemical composition of Inconel Alloy 600 is provided in the table below:

Forms of Inconel 600 (UNS N06600)

The forms of Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) are:

  • Gaskets
  • Inconel 600 blind flange
  • Bar
  • Pipe & Tube (welded & seamless)
  • Fittings (i.e., flanges, slip-ons, blinds, weld-necks, lap joints, long welding necks, socket welds, elbows, tees, stub-ends, returns, caps, crosses, reducers, and pipe nipples)
  • Wire.

Properties of Inconel 600 (UNS N06600)

Properties of Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) are:

  • It is resistant to a number of corrosive media.
  • It is virtually immune to chlorine ion stress corrosion cracking.
  • It is non-magnetic.
  • Feature excellent mechanical properties.
  • High strength and good weldability under a wide range of temperatures.

Mechanical Properties

The mechanical properties are:

Fabrication with Inconel 600 (UNS N06600)

It is possible to both hot-form and cold-form alloy 600 using typical processes. Hot working must be performed between 1600° F and 2250° F avoiding any work between 1200-1600° F because the ductility decreases in this temperature range. Welding Alloy 600 can be achieved via shielded metal-arc welding, TIG, and MIG.
